The Ovejas Negras Company has added to it’s stable of restaurants. Straight out of the blocks is Niño Gordo; put your money on it - it’s a winner. Not your average tapas bar, it takes its flavours from further flung parts of the world. Flavours from the Orient appear with punch from South America thrown in too. A refreshing starter of lightly seared salmon on top of chopped apple and avocado, mixed with edamame beans will prime your palette with a zing: a gorgeous combination. If you’re not that adventurous then a light aubergine hot dog might be more welcoming. There are curries, which, although don’t quite hit the spice-0-meter of this particular Brit, were tasty and the fabulously tender pork loin served with Pak Choy was outstanding. Other dishes like the spider crab looked pretty served in the shell but the flavour was underwhelming. However, the amazing fruit curry for desert tasted of tangy fruits and ginger but its presentation needed a little work. There’s a simple but good wine list and some interesting beers plus a wide selection of cocktails. Our waiter, Isidoro, spoke excellent English and was very knowledgable. All this and a modern interior, including the zebra-lined walls of the loos. Definitely not to be missed. Oh, and you can book online.
